Planet Massage, for a world of difference!

We have all heard the term Swedish Massage, but what exactly is it?

For the most part, the popular definition of a Swedish massage is usually the classic lighter “feel good” massage.

The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Stress and tension often releases as well. Chances are if you’ve ever got a professional massage, there has been some Swedish massage involved. Even if you got a deep tissue massage, shiatsu or some other exotic sounding massage at the spa, chances are your therapist used at least some classic Swedish Massage strokes as well as the other techniques.

Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other toxins and metabolic wastes ( or as we sometimes call it, nasty stuff. ) It increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable. Swedish massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves themselves at the same time. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management. Swish massage has many specific medical uses as well.
