Spray Tanning Pre-Tan Preparation

Spray Tan Preparation… Preparation is a vital part of the spray tanning process. This guideline will help you prepare for your spray tanning appointment, so that you can achieve the best results from your spray tan.

One of the most important things to do before your spray tanning session is to make sure your skin is clean, exfoliated and dry. Do not wear deodorant to your appointment, and be sure your skin is also free of oils, perfumes and moisturizers. Such products can created a barrier between your skin and spray tanning solution. Please read and follow these helpful tips and things to consider when preparing for your spray tan.

Tips for Preparing for Your Spray Tanning Appointment:

Shower and Exfoliate – It is extremely important to have clean exfoliated skin for your spray tan. Shower and exfoliate 24-8 hours before your spray tan. This will help to clean your skin and remove dead skin cells. Avoid using soaps with moisturizer, oils and perfumes. After showering, do not apply any make-up, moisturizer, perfume, lotion or deodorant to your body. Products such as these can adversely effect the end tanning result and life of your tan.

Hair Removal – Shaving (or waxing) should be done 24 hours before your spray tan appointment. Do not use a razor with a moisturizer strip on it.

Deodorants and Perfumes – Be sure your body is free of deodorants, perfumes and oils. These products can act as a barrier between your skin and spray tan. Also, certain deodorants may react with spray tan solutions will turn the deodorant under your arm green.

Hair – Tie your hair up so it is off your shoulders and out of your face. Your spray tan tech will also offer you a hairnet.

Jewelry – Remove all jewelry before your appointment.

Contact Lenses and Glasses – If you wear contact lenses or glasses, remove them before your spray tan. If you don’t want to remove your contact lenses then keep your eyes closed or ask your spray tanning tech for Wink-Ease. Wink-Ease are disposable eye stickers that don’t have straps or a nose bridge.

Clothing – Wear dark loose-fitting clothing and loose shoes to your tanning appointment, and for 6-8 hours after your appointment while your tan is still developing. Under your clothing were a dark bathing suit or dark undergarments. If you don’t have a dark bathing suit you can ask your spray tanning master for disposable undergarments. “Au natural” tanning is fine we well, though it is best to protect private parts.

Towel – Spray tan solution washes out of most material. However, it can damage leather. If you have light or leather car seats, bring a towel to sit on.

Umbrella – Water can ruin your spray tan, so be sure to bring an umbrella if it is raining.

Plan Your Tan – You should not plan anything after your spray tanning appointment that will cause you to get wet or sweat, such as showering, swimming or exercising. Avoid contact with water for at least 8 hours after your regular spray tan and 1-3 hours with express tan.

Protection – While our tanning solutions are natural and/or organic based and non toxic, we offer protection for use during your spray tan. Protection includes cotton for your ears, nasal plugs, hairnet, eye covers and lip balm or Vaseline on your lips.
